    Hi all,
I was lucky to see the big 5 yet again in Africa. Here is a buffalo in some nice early morning light. Small crop for composition.

Hi Sanjeev, nice image of the Buffalo and good to hear you managed to see all of the big 5.

I think here you could afford to be a bit more pushy on the Depth & Tone of the Saturation/Warmth giving the image some 'personality'. You have the detail, albeit I think some more DoF so the nose to the Boss is sharp and you have all those lovely details & textures there. Killer BKG with zero distracting elements, nice one.

Oh BTW, I think going B/W would be too contrasty unless you added a bit of warmth, but not Sepia.

Hi Sanjeev, I really like the image, I immediately thought it needed a little tonal control. I suspect the experienced may cringe a little but I have TK Masks and it was great adjusting the coat and the horns separately. (Very easy once you get the hang of it)

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Here is an RP. Is it better? Boosted saturation as per Steve's advice and gave more depth to tonal range.

Hi Sanjeev, pretty darn close to my thinking, however I wouldn't just take my thoughts as 'gospel', as other have valid thoughts & comments to take into account too, but what do you think, is it better, closer to your recollection and time of day??? I think it also helps the 'Boss' too.

Now just as a comparison FWIW, I dropped the blue (noticeable in the horn), plus in selective colour added +2 in the Black of Neutrals & +2 in Black of the Blacks as I feel it's far better than Contrast or Levels it just adds a hint here and also added a Graduate filter angled in the BKG and a bit more red coming through, might be too much?.

Hi Sanjeev ... well a very nice executed portrait of this species .
Love the warmth of the colors , ( looks realistic compare to the cheetah image ) . Head angle and eye contact is perfect . Crop is good .
OP needs some treatment in tone and color IMHO .... partly solved in your RP , i might go even further .

What bothers me a bit is very soft nose ....... looks like NR was used , for me no DOF issue .

    TFS Andreas
