    Default WT Sea Eagle

    Attached Images Attached Images

Shot from a very small skiff whilst bobbing around in a Norway fjord, on a very grey and dismal early morning. This Eagle was coming into land on a navigation post. Personally I would have preferred the subject a bit more to the right of frame, but trying to get subject focused the horizon horizontal whilst the skiff was yawing is hard, but here, rather than just the subject, it also shows the environment which I like.

Thanks to those who posted or viewed on the last posting.

Nice view of this eagle. THe detail looks very nice for the high ISO. The pose is nice and i like the dangling talons. Yes more to the right but you already addressed that. I don't mind the background.

Thanks John, as I said for me, it was trying add context to the image by showing more of the environment.

However, if shot on a blue or simpler backdrop to actually place the subject in a better position would be so easy in PS and I bet there are a lot of captures taken and parked, where a simple manipulation would deliver that cracking frame, it just happened to be in a less than ideal placement in frame.

Great dynamic flight pose captured, under tough conditions. I like the context. Placement noted, but having myself bobbed around in a skiff or two, you did well just to get him in the frame. I know this species doesn't have the same coloration as our our Bald Eagle, but the image feels a bit anemic to my eye. Would a touch of saturation help?

Hi Bill thanks, nice to know someone else has experienced 'bobbing' in the open water, not an easy task.

I know this species doesn't have the same coloration as our our Bald Eagle, but the image feels a bit anemic to my eye. Would a touch of saturation help?
The conditions were grey, zero light and so colours were more 'muted, flat, dull' and so adding saturation would enhance the image, but I feel would get away from the conditions, hence the highish ISO - 5000. I will post another one that hopefully will address things in terms of being a little more like your BE's.

This is stunning, Steve. Subject is indeed beautiful but it's the presence of the environment that makes this image for me.

I understand your concern about the placement of the subject within the frame but not much you could do about it, under the circumstances.

Super techs and the high ISO does not seem to have affected the image, IQ is great. Wonderful PP work and detail on the bird is superb, love the colours.
I so enjoyed viewing, this is one of your best avian images from what I have seen. Well, aside from Wol

excellent pose and great details for the ISO. if mine I'd run one more round of NR on the BG and also warmen the colors a tad. it looks cold and wet there....
