    Default Egretta sacra

Dark morph of the Eastern Reef Egret, shaking the feathers in the wind. The bird blends very well into the shore reef, the body blends with the dark rocks, and even the bill and eye have matching orange rocks.

I like the setting with the rocks and water. The fluffed up pose is nice as well. More room below and behind would be nice.

Nicely captured, Greg. Like all the shaking going on with drops of water falling. Very good detail and I like your low POV.

Very nice look at this guy Greg. The fluffy feather certainly helped your cause! The rocks add some nice habitat context, but the bird still stands out nicely against the mostly lighter scene.

Thanks all for the comments. I had been seeing this bird for a few days, and gradually it let me closer to get low with a reasonably good background. As usual in my area a heavy overcast is the best conditions, but it does show well the mottled dark plumage well of this stocky little egret.
