An image from back in April. I have the whole bird and it is a pretty good pose. The background is OOF, but still pretty busy for my tastes,
so here's a portrait crop. Straight size reduction, no sharpening applied for posting.

Hi Jack. Nice capture with the insect in its beak. Good FFD, HA and sharp. I'd be tempted to tone down the area at the bottom LHS and perhaps around the eye. Yes, the BG is somewhat distracting...not an impossible task to remove in Photoshop. I'd like to see the whole bird.

Fits the theme well. The pose is nice also detail look pretty good for the large crop. Yes to toning down the bright spot right behind the bird.

Neat capture and good exposure, Jack. I prefer the wide crop in this instance because it still shows the insect clearly, but not the softness towards the tip of the beak as much. I also think the background is not that distracting if you were to tone down the lighter areas and remove the very bright stem.

I also prefer the wider view. Nice detail and color. I would at least darken the white read in the background behind the head.
