    Default Yellow-crowned Night-Heron

Taken a couple of years ago while on vacation at Daytona Beach. I was kind of stunned by how approachable herons/egrets are in Florida and not just at busy beaches.
Here in Missouri, if you drive by a reservoir with a heron, just taking your foot off he accelerator causes them to bolt. I just trailed the bird down the beach as it was hunting
    breakfast.

Sweet prey item and nice pose. I'd back off the contrast a little as things seem generally 'heavy' especially the blacks on the head which I think you can get more detail on. Nice BG as well. TFS

Our herons in Nova Scotia are just like yours. Just rolling the window down in the car spooks them!
    Great prey item!
Image is a bit bright and contrasty so I would address that in PP.
If you have Detail Extractor in the NIK suite I would use that on the crab and boost saturation a bit on the crab.
I see some green near the crab leg on right side. What is that? I would clean that up- whatever it is.

Dang, you have a sharp eye. I attempted to remove an OOF blob there. I have a red/green color blind deficiency.
I can't tell that there's a noticeable color left there.

Yes to less contrast. But you have a great view of that crab. A touch more below would be nice. Yes when you go to Florida the birds can be stupid tame. Where i live not so.

Very nice shot, one of my favorite from this month's theme! I agree about backing off the contrast and maybe opening up the black a bit. Crab could not be a better position relative to the beak. I also see the small green blog Gail references. And yeah, birds - particularly herons - are stupid tame in FL. Now go try to shoot in Europe without a blind - almost impossible since everything is so use to get shot at all the time!

love the pose and prey that is almost intact. agree it is too contrasty and can use some lifting of shadows

Re-post with some the suggestions applied. Reduced the contrast, saturated and some selective burning on the crab. Hopefully I didn't get to carried away with the crab.
Not sure if I corrected the green spot but I tried to be a little more careful this time. Straight size reduction, no sharpening for post.
