I love this shot Geoffrey! The chick is adorable. I almost feel bad for complaining, but I see a bit of noise in the bg that could be cleaned up and maybe the specular highlights could be toned down a little. A little bit of TLC and this is a winner for sure! Great sharpness on the bird and the outstretched leg is a nice touch

I like the bird and the dark mood however it needs NR and I would take some off the top to lessen
the impact of the dark LHC.

Nice frame of this chick on the rocks. Like how the color of the bird matches the rocks.

Agree there is a lot of empty and somewhat distracting space at the top. Focus on the eye is decent but falls off from there; I always like to have a sharp leg in profile like this. More direct eye contact would have helped as well.

Thanks Dorian and all for your observations and suggestions for cropping at the top. I wasn't quite sure about the crop when first posted, but I am now. I addressed the noise, added more detail in the leg and foot, and bird with Detail Extractor.

    Repost really looks better!
If you have enough pixels I would take a bit of LHS to fit a 7 x 5 ratio.
    Well done!

Thanks Gail. Funny you should suggest 7 x 5 ratio, because I only cropped from the top in my repost. Just did a 7 x 5 browser crop and it looks quite nice also.
