    Default Theme: Jiminy Cricket

This image of an Emerald Tanager was taken in eastern Costa Rica. Overcast and under the jungle canopy. Taken early on my trip while I was still trying to figure out how to maximize iso and fill flash. This is pushing it for iso-6400.

    Iso 6400, 500 mm PF, F7 .1, 1600th, D 500, fill flash at -3, handheld, 65% full frame

Wow a lemonlime treat, and a really like the positioning of jiminy! That lone antennae is cool along with the horizontal fett. Might clean the eye a bit. Very nice bokeh and an overload of color! HA terrific, well done.

What an amazing capture Moe! The bird, the pose and the cricket are spectacular. I second Ann's suggestion. I also see some artefacts near the antennae - probably noise - which needs cleaning up. I would also suggest toning down the contrast a bit since some detail in the Blacks are blocked and the Yellows near the tail region are slightly blown out on my screen.

    Very cool shot!

Great bird, great prey and lovely perch.
I agree 100% with Aditya's suggestion re: blacks.

Neat bird, pose and prey. Looks a tad over sharpened to me.

Excellent... one of your nicest Costa Rica photos for me.
I only wish you could have got more DOF but impossible with the light I know..

Great view of this bird and the prey. Love that neon color on the bird as well. Composition looks spot on as well.

Ditto on what others have said, but I will add I think this image looks very heavily processed to me as evidenced by the artifacts around the bug's legs. The bird is kind of crunchy as though a lot of sharpening has been applied while the
background has had a ton of NR done on it. I think you need to equilibrate the processing across the image so it doesn't look so.....well.....processed.
