    Default Black-tailed Godwit

    Attached Images Attached Images

Taken In Iceland in June 2019. Very dark, cloudy day.
    Canon 1DX 600mmv 3
    ISO 1600 SS 1/2500 F 5.6
Almost full frame on the vertical side and cropped in from left and right.
    Nothing added or cloned.
Usual LR sliders, NR to BG and a bit of NR to bird. I dodged the eye to brighten it.
Comments and critiques always appreciated and learned from with thanks,

Great pose, I like the hanging foot and the one ruffled feather on the tail. Background color works really well with the colors of the godwit.

Both wings are sharp and there's ample room in the image for the bird to move. The neck and belly could be brightened a bit probably. I'd be proud to hang this image on my wall

Lovely shot all around. I too would prefer to see a bit more from the shaded areas if they aren't too noisy. Tripod or HH?

I absolutely love the background tones. They go really well with the bird. As others have suggested, I would probably brighten the chest and head a touch. I like the bird's pose too. Great shot!

Awesome BG, pose, and details. Agree with raising the exposure ever so slightly. I like that we can see the foot a bit. TFS

Wonderfully detailed dorsal view, Gail. Great banking position, and lovely background. I love the image quality.

Very pleasant composition with nice lighting, wing position, and detail. The Icelandic Godwits have very photogenic plumage.

I like the fanned tail, slight banking, the eye contact and the colors. Sharp and the foot dangling is a plus rather than tucked up out and straight behind. Well done Gail!

Thanks for the eyes. I agree 100% about increasing the exposure which I had not done in the first post. So I raised the exposure by 1/3 of a stop and tightened the crop a bit.
I think it looks way better.
For Colin- Yes, this was handheld

Ooh. I love this. Great banking pose with an angle toward you, and gorgeous background. Repost a definite improvement. On my few shots of the species, the colors of head and bill are brighter orange/yellow than even the repost, but I assume this is the result of the very dark lighting conditions you had. What a lovely bird.

I think I commented elsewhere on this, but I have to say again, just superb..
It needed the exposure raised to make it about perfect.
The hints of red in the grasses at the bottom is such a nice touch...

Excellent! The repost has pop and crack the original lacked. This is one of the few times hen I'd say flat light really helped as it allowed nice exposure across the bird. Pose is excellent, background is money. A winner.
