I missed getting any Common Redpoll images on my previous trip to Iceland, so I was pleased when this guy responded to audio, on a side trail on the shore of Lake Myvatn last May. It turned out that a pair had established a nest right over the trail. "Myvatn" means Midge Lake in Icelandic, and midges are what he is carrying back to the nest.
Great find Bill! We dipped this year on redpolls.
Good BG and love the midges in the beak.
I would take a sliver off the top to eliminate the curving tree and increase the exposure slightly.
A slight bit more head turn would have been great but nice as is.

Good one, Bill. We struck gold finding the pair and nest. I like the whole thing including the exposure and mouth full of midges. I could also see a version with tad more selectivly increased exposure on bird.
