    Default Many-striped Canastero - Colombia

This high-elevation furnarid inhabits Andean grasslands and páramo from Colombia to Central Peru. I encountered this individual at 13,000 feet in Los Nevados
National Park outside Manizales in Colombia's Central Andes. I was taping for a related furnarid, White-chinned Thistetail, when this bird responded to the similar
call. So, this is one of the few fully natural (i.e. not set-up) frames I was able to capture on my recent trip. I have attached a photo to give you a sense of the
habitat - my finger is pointing to the shrub on which the bird landed, albeit later in the day when the cloud cleared.

I'll be taking a group to Colombia agin in June 2020, so et me know if you're interested (if mentioning that is against board rules, let me know and I'll
    edit it out).

Processed in LR CC. Removed one stray blade of grass on right hand side, super minor.

    Dorian:

Lovely soft light with complimentary colors in perch and background. Sharp.

I might consider lowering the luminosity of the background bushes just a bit, so they don't compete quite so much with the bird for our visual attention. That might also soften the bokeh just a bit as well.

    Cheers

Very nice. Nice pose and a killer background. The perch is pretty neat looking as well. Apprciate the reference photo, gives some nice context.

Love this one Dorian. My only nitpic would be to tone it down a little as it looks a little bright and also a little hot on the LHS tail area. Really like the "perch" too. If it were mine I'd be tempted to give Photoshop a whirl in order to remove the oof plants on the right...but I'm ok as it is. TFS

A beautiful bird I'll never see, in a good pose. Lovely shrub he's perched on, too. Good suggestion from Randy. The head seems just a bit softer than the bush, which I guess is where the focal point was. At that distance it's tough to get the focal point right on the head.

Thanks, Paul. I think you are right. Exposure toned down a touch in repost, tailed also retouched.
