This high-elevation furnarid inhabits Andean grasslands and páramo from Colombia to Central Peru. I encountered this individual at 13,000 feet in Los Nevados
National Park outside Manizales in Colombia's Central Andes. I was taping for a related furnarid, White-chinned Thistetail, when this bird responded to the similar
call. So, this is one of the few fully natural (i.e. not set-up) frames I was able to capture on my recent trip. I have attached a photo to give you a sense of the
habitat - my finger is pointing to the shrub on which the bird landed, albeit later in the day when the cloud cleared.
I'll be taking a group to Colombia agin in June 2020, so et me know if you're interested (if mentioning that is against board rules, let me know and I'll
edit it out).
