Taken in Iceland one morning as the oystercatcher flew over a field of buttercups.

The dorsal view is very nice and love that background. Really like that fanned out tail.

Nice top side view and the BG is terrific.
A bit more of a head turn would have been nice.

Those buttercups are deadly BG Ann. It's interesting how the white feathers create a white bird outline within the outline of the whole bird, and if you follow the extension of grey out from the dorsal whites you can even see a head and bill to make up a whole phantom bird-on-a-bird.

Sometimes the sun comes out and yes we stopped shooting for awhile bc light was too harsh, not to worry, within a few hours weather changes, thats the certainty of Iceland weather!

HI Ann, nice topside view, lovely background compliments the bird. If this was from a series/burst maybe a later image would have the near wing fully extended. Congratulations on your image in Audubon's 2019 Top 100.

Thank you Joe, it was from a burst but this was the best of the burst!

Super pose colours and background, a really delightful image.
I like as is but if it were mine I would have a look at the contrast, I know you folk over there like your punchy images but for me it has just a little too much.

This is really nice Ann. Pose is great, and the detail across the bird looks great. Center of back might be a tad hot, but its the nature of these high-contrast shots and is an easy fix if you agree. Background is great, and I really
like the strong colors throughout the frame. More head turn would have been nice, for sure.
