    Default Greenie of the day...

I and a couple of friends have an informal contest at our pond for different species.
Right now Green Herons are very active so we are having a "greenie of the day" contest
and email photos to each other in the evenings.
This is mine from this morning.

Unique greenie shot; tough to catch them in flight. Great eye contact and good detail on the head.

Dan, very unique position on this one, I like it. Nice HA and BG, good job considering the high ISO.

I'd put money on you today... Great pose sharp right where it needs to be with killer BG. TFS

    Well done Dan!
his birds are really hard to get in flight and even harder when incoming.
Good clean BG and I like the diagonal line created by the wings.
I would sharpen/smooth out the top half edge of the pupil of the eye a bit. It is a bit uneven and gives the impression that the eye is not sharp.

How bout "green with envy!" Wowsa Dan, well done indeed. I could suggest maybe a slight darkening on the top of the wings. Love the HA and gorgeous clean BG.

Always like head-on shots with narrow DOF, this is really well done.

Great capture Dan. I get only rare glimpses of these let alone a shot like this, with such a BG to boot. I like the way its framed, with the wings corner to corner of the image and the head turn is just right.

Great pose on the bird and the green background compliements the green heron nicely. Wish for some more room around the bird. Keep these pond shots coming.

Ditto only the positives above. Way to go and my money is on you too; I love the diagonal!
