f/8 gave you nice feather detail from beak to bum here David and for an over-the-shoulder pose I think you got the head angle just right. The contrast between the greens of the BG and foreground leaves and the blue/grey of the bird is striking.

I like the inclusion of the habitat; it adds without being overpowering. A bit more head turn towards you would help viewer engagement. Unconventional crop is a bit wonky. I might do vertical and eliminate the open space to the right of main tree.

Nice light and I really like the environment pictured.
I would take a sliver off the LHS and a bit more off the RHS to make this a true portrait orientation 6 x 4.

Pretty nice to see the bird in its environment here. Like the composition as well with plenty of room for the bird to look into. Light sure was nice.
