That is a close-up!!! It looks like you were close judging form
the eye reflection, very nice look at this species, the crab is a big bonus..
I might try to take the highlights off the crab.

Nice to see a a king fisher with a crab. The background is killer. The pose and perch are nice as well.

That is a big bill! Great catch in it as well. I'm torn about the highlight in the BG behind the KF - not an image killer but wish it was not there. Some NR to the eye and other darker areas of the plumage would work (done judiciously so not to lose details). Great colours, pose, low-light mood.

Great looking bird. Very nice colors. Glad it turned back for you, good angle. Any cropping?

Hi Matt! Yes cropped to make it vertical and added some canvas at top.

I like the KF and the prey is a bonus.
The image is a bit too tight in the frame for my taste and I would loosen the crop (as always crop is such a personal taste thing!).
There is some noise on the KF and I would address this in PP.
Agree with Daniel about the circular highlight around the bird.
Look forward to more of this great KF,
    Gail

love everything, pose, perch BG and etc. too bad the IQ is not great, the bird looks soft and noisy to my eye.

How much IQ do you expect from Canon 7D II at ISO 2000???

Lots of good (and bad) stuff above. I do not like the large specular highlights in the BKGR. And it looks as if you were shooting up a bit too much ... Ditto Gail on too-large-in-the-frame.
