    Default Northern Flicker Nest.

A male keeping watch over two of the three nestlings (the third is hidden from view tucked comfortably inside the cavity. I photographed this nest for two complete mornings, and not once did I see the female come to the nest - only the male. I'm thinking she has perished, as in other years that I have observed flickers' nest both parents would share duties. I have to day that the male did a wonderful job! The nest was difficult to see, and although not apparent this was photographed through a keyhole between trees and leaves.

Wonderfull capture of this family, Daniel. Love the light and the position the father is in keeping an eye on the nestlings. Like your crop as well. Sad to hear the mother may have perished.

A lovely composition Daniel. Really like the interaction between the "Dad and the kids". Great that you were able to get all birds sharp at f5.6...where was your focus point?

Couldn't be better. Everything spot on as always. Good HA on all, gnarly old tree a bonus. Thank you for sharing, Dan.

Looking great. Vertical framing is spot on. Love how the adult is looking down at the chicks. This is one of my nemisis birds.
