A fabulous image Ivor ---?. You did a terrific job of photographic technique in capturing this fast moving subject with perfect focus and exposure but without the left wing extended it appears lopsided and an unfortunate miss. That was my first thought. Upon closer and more prolonged inspection it looks like the wing is extended but the plane through the wings, back, and tail is rotated away from the camera in the bird's view clockwise. The bird has it's head rotated to it's left giving my first impression. Once I understood what was going on it became a much more interesting image.

Thanks Bob, i know exactly what you mean about the bird position, but once i understood what was going on, i quite enjoyed the slight complexity/different context to it.

I like this Ivor...The nice BG really shows the bird well. Lovely colours throughout. I like your chosen crop and I don't mind the pose on the bird, however, I think that it would look better with the left wing showing more topside... Good work...was this from a hide/set up.

The crop is nice. Also like the moment of action here with the bird locked on the the fish and diving. Two toned background is another plus.
