    Default Northern Pintail

Shot at local slough in Nd We have plenty of Pintails just hard to get a good shot. They like weedy areas and roadside ditches and unsuitable for photos muddy puddles in crops. In over a month I have only had pintails on this pond a couple of times. I can leave and see them in the weeds a hundred feet away frustrating. Then they only stay for a few minutes. And on top of that one of our more skittish ducks.Hard to believe how birds react in different parts of the country. I have been in Nd going on five years.
I can't even get close to a Great Blue Heron. They see you a quarter mile away in a vehicle and they are gone.Processed in Dpp 4,Photoshop and neat image. Full frame no crop. Thanks for comments and critiques.

Very nice point of view, Low angle works really well.

For me I think you an get more details in the white and backs.

Touch more sharpening on the head would be nice.

Lovely bird, light, and reflections. Do you have more room in front; it needs it.

Very nice view of this pintail. Details on the bird look very nice. Low angle is spot on as well. You can only get close to great blues if you are in a vehicle in my area on foot they are gone as soon as they see you.

Stunning bird! These ducks are impossible to get close to in Europe wish makes me very envious of frames like this one.
Great light, pose and details. I think you exposed the shot perfectly and you got some good looking water. As allready pointed out this frame needs more room to the right.

Nice rendition of colour, crisp focus , and lovely BG for the prince of ducks. And the bow wave is a nice touch.

sweet shot Kevin, love the light, exposure details, low angle, and the calm water I agree with Artie that it needs more room on the front at least, and a touch more sharpening wouldn't hurt either.
