Another Barrow's Goldeneye in breeding plumage. Flying up the Laxa River in Iceland, so he could float back down again.

    Bill:

Nice angle in frame, feet, down swept pose, eye, and dramatic water. All good!

The river looks like it is dropping from right to left and combined with the faint tree trunks angling also, seems like it might need a bit of CW rotation? Could just be an illusion of course.

    Cheers

Nice curled wingtips. Like how the bird is just above the water. Detail on the bird is quite nice.

Excellent detail, wing position, and composition. Superb job on the contrasting black and white plumage. I also see less then a level horizon but remember rivers, unlike ocean can be at an angle. As a former Whitewater River guide, I can assure you that rivers drop. So I'm okay with this..

I am not sure about leveling the river ... I love the wing position and the framing.

Moe: I appreciate the fact that rivers aren't always level. I was influenced by the tree trunks in the background.

Another good one, Bill. Like him nice and low to the water, and the forward wing position.

Thank you all. Yes, the river was rushing down to the left, but probably not as much as it appears here. I leveled the initial, uncropped frame, in which I could see more of the far bank, so I think this is reasonably level. I think the wave on the far right of the cropped image contributes to the out-of-level appearance.

I like the bird a lot, dynamic pose, sharp with good details, there are some shadows but not a big deal for me. The bird is almost lost in the BG though which also appears to have has a dose of blur/or heavy NR applied to it. it was a tough situation with the birds close to the water and the BG not much you can do about it
