This little owlet, and its sibling, gave many local photographers an entertaining time photographing them. I was only able to go a couple of times, but quite fun. On this occasion it was on a fallen tree 4 feet off the ground. Pretty much a perfect opportunity!

Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/60s., f/4, ISO 1600, natural light, handheld (lens barrel braced on another large tree trunk for added stability), full-frame, a couple of small highlights in the BG filled-in via cloning.

    Daniel:

The fuzz is great, like the one legged pose with the talons of the retracted leg showing, soft background.
    Neat opportunity, well utilized.

    Cheers

Very cool Dan. Great perch, pose, and BG. Love the one foot visible. I see a touch of magenta in the feathers, but could just be my screen. Love the eyes. TFS

Love the image. I don't know if it's possible to get much cuter than this.

Another Dan gem! Love the softness of the down, the sharpness of the face and the contrasting BG. Great you were able to get down low for this one too. I also see a touch of magenta.

Slightly bewildered look from this little fellow. Lovely shot.
