Default Eurasian Golden Plover in last light

Just got back from another trip inside Sweden to nail a few more species on my photography-wish list. This is an adult Eurasian Golden Plover on the tundra of the Swedish mountains. I just love the colors and the flowers during this time of the year.
This species acts like an alarm-sign on the tundra and their piercing call is heard as soon as you approach them. This acts like a warning for all other species. Therefore, they can be quite difficult to approach as they always are the first to take to flight. It was just a question of finding an approachable bird and then playing the waiting game so that the bird felt comfortable, as the habitat was stunning almost everywhere in the midnight sun. This bird provided the opportunities that I was searching for. Let me know what you think, all comments welcome!

I think that this is a great photograph. I love shorebirds. The thing that makes the image is that the bird is on a small mound -- this allows us to see the raised foot and turns the o-o-f pink flowers into a perfect frame! Let's see more :)

Super shot. Colors are lovely, alert head turn very nice, and I love the little patch of tundra he's on. These guys were everywhere we went in Iceland recently, like Robins on an American lawn, but never in such a beautiful setting as this. Well done.

Great image, Ivan. Nice that you were able to get this pose with the raised foot, and eye contact. Like the flowers fading into that smooth background.

I do not know how you could improve on this image, it is beautiful and pretty much perfect as presented. Even the head angle is just right. Congrats!

Pretty much perfect IMO. As Artie said, the raised mound helps so much. Great light and flowers. Really fantastic, TFS
