I captured this image at Circle B Bar Reserve in Polk County, Florida. The bird is perched on the flower stalk of the Fire Flag plant a magnet when blossoming for small birds and Purple Gallinules which love to eat the blossoms. The when, where, and why is described in the Birds As Art Middle Florida Photography Guide which can be purchased in the Birds AS Art Online Store soon. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

    Hi Joe,

I like them both, but prefer the second post with plenty of space to look and fly into. Great eye contact and love the slightly defused side / top light accentuating the feather detail. Beautiful pastel background.

I would love the horizontal with bird and perch higher in the frame. TFS

Prefer the vertical out of these two. The horizontal one need the bird to be higher in the frame. Like the bird low in the vertical. That is a sweet background.

My preference in this case is the horizontal, but not by much. Burning out, or blending away, the pale oof spot just beside the phoebe would be a good thing IMO. Nice and sharp on the subject, and beautiful colours for the BG.
