This is another image from my time at the Bass Rock last week. Handheld, not baited, from a boat. If anyone is thinking of coming to Scotland in the near future, I would highly recommend a trip to the Bass Rock. With over 150,000 breeding birds, it's well worth it.

Yeehawww Will, excellent, great action, love the lift off, curled foot and the great view of the head. Seas look choppy and these seabirds certainly work for their dinner. I especially like the bulge in the crop area... I have seen terns puff that area up as if they are adding more steam to their effort. Love this Will.

Thanks for that Ann...This is the Bass Rock on a grey day...does look a wee bit gloomy eh, like Alcatraz it was once used as a prison. Every wee white dot is a Gannet, yes they have taken over the rock No lighthouse keeper either...

Whoaaaaa, I would love to shoot there. Maybe a red kite/Bass Rock kinda trip, throw in some ptarmigan! How long a boat ride from the mainland Will? A victory for the colony! Looking forward to more of your postings from this trip. TFS

Simply superb Will, the water adds so much more to this compared to the 'regular' gannet shots. Great pose

Amazing dynamic capture. The waves cooperated to frame the bird beautifully. Well done.

This one screams action. Like the pose on the bird and the splashing water. Bird is nice and sharp.

Wasn't sure I was going to like the image from the thumb, but I am pleasantly mistaken! Focus on the bird's intense face is awesome, and the splash really heightens the action. I like that we can see the
yellow-green lines on the top of the feet! Looks like an incredible place to shoot.

Sharp with a killer take-off pose. You might wish to check and see if there is a reddish color cast.

Phenomenal capture, William. Love the detail mixed in with motion blur in all the right places. Well done!

There you go Artie, sorry about the delay but been busy. I reduced the reds slightly by moving the slider towards the cyan on colour balance.

No worries, no rush. The repost is better but the WHITEs are not neutral as seen in the screen capture here. Note the RGB values: 245, 239, 239. See the next pane :)

Here is a version with the WHITEs completely neutral. I used click White Balance. If I were working with the RAW and was not totally happy with the other colors with the WHITEs neutral it is possible to tweak that using the HSL slider (or the Color Editor in Capture One).
