    Default Marmot

In light of Bob's Gopher image, here is another Marmot from last September whilst hiking in Zermatt. All I wanted was the subject in focus and the rest as 'mush' to tighten the subject and keep separation.

Thanks to those who posted or viewed on the last posting.

Hi Steve a good solid shot of this marmot , nicely separated from FG/BG with the choice of aperture .
PP looks great as expected , i might give the subject a tiny bit more depth to isolate him more from the dominant rocks . Surprised to see that the rocks do have a reddish coloration in parts .

Great field work i suppose , as they will be shy in Zermatt

Cheers Andreas, well it's all part I guess of their structure.

Even harder and more time consuming with the 100-400, a lot of waiting and crawling, but is more lightweight to backpack with than a 500 or certainly the 200-400.

I like the processing of the marmot but for me there is too much empty space on LHS, I wouldn't say he looks lost but I don't think he is dominant enough.

The marmot stands out pretty well. Like how it is tucked behind the rock. Background is nice. Like the composition overall. Nice and sharp with nice detail.

    Dear Steve,

I must compliment you once again on your field work as well as your processing skills, subject stands out beautifully against that lovely BG and detail is amazing. Perfect techs and composition works very well IMO.

Your patience and all the "waiting and crawling" really paid off, well worth the time and effort. Great timing, love the head angle and POV. Well exposed and colours look natural.

You seem to get it right every time... I still make mistakes every now and then, too much excitement and I tend to forget things. Got my gear cleaned and serviced by Nikon and only realised later (in the middle of an awesome sighting) that I forgot to adjust certain camera settings. Will I ever learn...
So I thank you for sharing - as always, I took great pleasure viewing

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Hi Steve -- Excellent IQ , makes for such a great viewing . Loved the clean bkg and the details in your subject are exquisite. The FG rock is a bit dominant as compared to the subject IMO. But nothing comes easy and clean in the Wild.

    TFS !
