Nice preening pose with good head angle. Head looks a bit soft on my screen; maybe a touch more sharpening?

Oh boy, I'm a bit jealous of this one...we have this species up here (as a species of concern) but they are never so cooperative for me. I love pretty much everything about this. Do you mean that you placed the log there in the hopes a duck would use it, but that a Black Tern did instead?

Sure like this one Kevin, lovely soft colors, cool perch, and interesting preening pose. Just love a black tern.

Beautiful light in this capture, Kevin. Everything seems to be perfect including your choice of crop. Lovely background also.

Nice work capturing such a striking pose from this fellow Kevin. It would be interesting to see the effect of adding a touch of exposure to the head/face.

Looking good Kevin...Lovely light and what a great looking pose. Agree with Bob, to lighten the face a wee bit.

Thanks Dan and yes anchored the log so it would stay in place. Was thinking some ducks would use it not yet. Had some eared grebes very interested in its placement though.

Very nice. Love the preening pose and the low angle. This is a bird i use to see very often not so much last couple of years. I did see two yesterday.

Very nice as noted above. Good work on the dark tones. I would not mind seeing a crop from our right and above with some more room to our left. If you have it.
