Here is another low light afternoon image from my yard. This is a natural perch, bittersweet starting to choke a native Dogwood tree. I cleaned up the eye catchlight as it was much bigger. Also chose to crop vertical bc i like the perch as much as the woodpecker! BTW, no room below...

Love the woodpecker poses like this one with the look back. Neat perch. More room below would be nice. Background is spot on. Nice and sharp.

You caught a lovely cheeky pose Ann, that goes just right with the perch. It has nice fine feather detail in the face and I like the subtlety of the bird's colour. A very stylish image.

Lovely shot. I think there is a slight green cast particularly under the chin.

I call this medium light where I live and I like it.
Nice and soft. Like everything about it except the white strip at the bottom?

Hmmm... no clue Dan, thanks for pointing that out. Maybe when i cropped vertical i didn't realize i had extended beyond the file...

Thanks Colin, I saw that as well but i'm not sure at all how to isolate that area and fix it... Beyond my pay grade!

Looking good Ann...You have some great perches in that yard, and what a beautiful bird to perch nicely on that one, with a lovely head turn. Lovely looking frame.

Painted a Quick Mask of the greenish area and put it on its own layer. The color cast was actually YELLOW which looked GREEN to us. Reduced the YELLOW SAT about 30 points and lightened it some in HUE/SAT. Added a Regular Layer Mask and blended the edges with a 50% brush.

    Nice image and perch BTW.

All as detailed plus tons more in Digital Basics II.

    with love, a
