Juvenile Rainbow Bee-eater. Was overexposed in the field due to operator error, but I think it is OK after processing. Good that the leading edge of the far wing is out of the shadow.

Well rescued Greg, The dark BG really shows up the bird nicely. Not super sharp but maybe some loss with the overexposure. I'm curious about your camera gear, what lens combo gives you 420mm? Brand and camera body?

Doesn't look like you loss any detail but could use another round of sharpening(maybe just the head). Great job on PP. TFS

Sweet, sweet flight pose on this one. Great the bird is in sun and the background in shade. Yes the head is a little soft.

Such a brightly coloured subject works beautifully with this dark BG Greg. The BG could use some NR I think.

I like the wings against the black background. I agree that sharpening needs to be increased.

Thanks all for the comments and suggestions. I did not do any sharpening to the original, I tend to get caught in the abstract aspects of the image (as I see them). Attached is a version with some sharpening and clarity (might have made more of a difference) on the head and body, and NR on the background. Note also I posted this at a smaller size than the max, as this individual this is only about 15cm tip to tail.

Colin: this was a 300 with 1.4 to get 420, Olympus gear for this capture.

The repost is better. Which camera body? Kille pose.
