This common loon was imaged this morning. He had caught a large fish and stunned it, was maneuvering it so that he could swallow it. It was sunfish, quite wide, so he had to get it just right in order to swallow it. He looked quite dramatic as he opened wide.

A quite unique pose Randy, timed just right. The detail of the fine white on black markings is superb and the blacks exposed just right to give that soft sheen of green on the head and neck. And I really like the bright robin's egg tone of blue of the water.
Spectacular as is. A bit of a head turn toward you and you would have had a contest winner for sure.
