    Default Female Common Goldeneye

We have a small pond on our property in Ingonish. This year we have 3 young male green teals that are frequenting the pond. No girls around so I am calling them the 3 bachelors.
Anyway, I put my waders on and got into the pond at sunrise to get some shots of them but to my surprise this female common goldeneye flew in. She swam through this lovely patch of golden water.
The green winged teals never showed up!

    Crop to ~70% FF
Cleaned up the eye and used a luminosity mask on the water to tone down the brightness slightly.
There was a blue cast on the feathers due to the bird being in the shadows so I fixed that,

Golden delight Gail! Love the POV, slight head turn, and how the FG melts to BG. The golden eyereally pops and is more noticeable with the surrounding soft colors. I also like the small greenish reflections in the water. Wonderful way to start the day, well done.

Like the back story to go along with this stunning capture, Gail. At first I felt the water could use a bit more toning down, but I agree with the amount you decided on. Love the low POV.

What a beautiful sunrise shot of this hen. No nits from me. The Teals will come back tomorrow.

Very nice. Love that golden water. The bird gave you a nice look back pose as well.

The goldeneyes are too smart...and she seems to have known all too well that you were there! Lovely golden tones, nice low angle, and good IQ. Hope you get your chance with the teals too.

Hi Gail, lovely image. I second all the previous comments. I might blend out the dark band across the image. Thank you for sharing.

Nailed that one Gail, the little look back says it all about Goldeneyes - 'I know you're there, but so what!'
