    Hi all. Took a number of photos of this Cormorant, but chose this one as it's looking straight at me. Lake Samsonvale, Brisbane.
    7Dii, 100-400@400mm, 1/1600th sec, f5.6, iso400, AV mode, hand-held.

    I like the stare, the perch and the BG, all perfect. unfortunately the side light worked against you especially casting harsh shadows in the pupil. the breast whites have lost detail and the dark feathers look a bit soft too, perhaps from the contrast

    I think Arash summarized it nicely. Perhaps one of your other shots might have less of an issue with the shadows on the face. Always a challenge working in bright conditions like this.

    Thanks Arash &Randy. Good points raised and noted for future shots. Yes, I do have other shots with the bird looking to the right, but I found another one taken a while ago which I like even more, so will post it soon. Cheers.
