    Greg:

I like the head on view, spread wings and slight offset from tail, hill in background for depth.

Because of the angle of flight, I am not sure all the room to the right adds a lot, so might try some alternative crops.

I could also see a version with slightly reduced exposure on water and background.

    Cheers

I like the scene here with the hill in the BG. Nice detail on the wings, I would have liked a better HA, but, not bad as is. Well captured Greg.

Like the head on approach. Man this looks like a pretty big bird. The hill in the background gives the image some nice depth.

Looks good, I like the hill in the BG for sure. I do feel the image may need a touch of CCW rotation though. For me the best part is the tail twisting across the wing. Pretty neat intersecting lines created there!

Thanks all for the comments on this. I realize the composition is a bit awkward, but I was really trying to keep some of the headland on the background, as the water color was very uninspiring under the heavy skies.
Randy, I found your comment on the exposure of the background interesting - normally I'd just accept the higher key background when exposing for the bird, but I did a little tweak, -0.6, and it certainly does improve. Only done roughly on the repost, if I did it earlier in the process rather on the final tiff it would be better. Slight rotation also Dan, although there is a bit of false horizon going out to an unseen island on the right.
