Discovered a new location around 20 mins from home, and took a bunch of photos of this White-faced Heron. Here's one that I like.

Cool Bird. I wish for better head angle. Some spots which are in the background could be cleaned up to improve the image.

I would also have more space below the image as well..

Looks like you got a good place. Try to see if you can get lower perspective as well.

I like the soft light and the soft ambiance, nice exposure, I find the composition a bit too centered. the main issue here is the HA that as Krishna mentioned is angled away from us a bit

A nice clean shot Paul, HA already mentioned, and possibly 2 more points from me - firstly is the leg position. Its better than being stood still, but maybe a frame or 2 later, the bird might have put the rear foot further forward in front of the standing leg which I thing is more aesthetically pleasing. Also getting really low down would improve the shooting angle - although it will increase the number of pairs of pants going in the washing machine!

Look forward to some more from this location

Excellent color and detail. The foreground and background work well together although as others have mentioned there are some spots that could be cleaned up in the background.

What a cool looking heron. Agree with what has been said here. Always nice to find a location that is close to home.

I agree 100% with Mike re: foot position. I find the leg moving forward is much prettier.
I like the image just wish for a better HA,
