    Default Great Horned Owlet.

A couple of weeks ago a work colleague alerted me to an owl's nest in her backyard. Of course I paid a couple of visits. It turned out to be Great Horned Owls. On the second visit one of the two owlets had fledged the nest and was posing nicely no more than four feet off the ground on a neighbour's fence. The metal wiring behind and dry vines at right are what they are, but I still love the image and the owl's cuteness factor! I did put on the longer lens after this for isolated close-ups without the wiring showing.

    Canon 7DII + 100-400L @260mm, natural light, handheld, 1/60s., f/5.6, ISO 1600 (lens braced against another tree's trunk), full-frame.

Getting this cute fuzzball in such an intimate image is well worth the perch and fence. Looks like you were close... Just love that stare. TFS

I agree as this is quite cute. The fuzziness really adds to the image. Excellent detail, I contact and composition.

Very nice view of this owlet. Like the pose and the composition. The fence is what it is. Nice and sharp with great detail.
