    Default Hiding in plain site...

Same bird as earlier, the fact the lower half was behind bushes near the water's edge had me with no idea it was a white morph as the legs are usually what gives it away from afar (GBH's are yellow, great egret's are black). In fact I was on the way out at anhinga trail and not too interested as the foilage was problematic. What caught my eye was the water with dark greens to this blue as BG. When I got home I was so glad I spent some time with this rare beauty.

As always, thanks for valued comments, suggestions and discussions on earlier posts. Looking forward to more of the same.

    ps
Wish I could have gotten down to the water's very edge. As it was near the end of gator mating season and a few males were still roaring and in site, decided discretion was the better part of valor. In other words, I was skeered.....

Nice view of this rarity. Like the pose and that dark blue water background. Wish the bushes were not there but thats the way she goes sometimes.

Is this a wider version of the exact image in the previous post? It sure looks like it is :)

No, I imaged this guy from three distances. First further back to get some dark green water BG, then this distance and then the portrait distance previously posted. The previous image was close to full frame (cropped for slightly better composition). Wish I could have moved more right for them all but gator mating season is not the time to be near water's edge.
    Peace,
    David

Wonderful clarity and exposure on the white plumage. Nice background and I noticed you had no evidence of a sharpening halo. Well done.

Yes Artie, stayed in place for all three approaches and gave different head turns and gestures, including two yawns slightly more turned away, but would just not turn slightly more towards me(tried shushing, shutter sound, popping my tongue... not interested)... Then flew away... The whole time I did not know it was a white morph GBH till I got home.
    Peace,
    David

Nicely exposed David , showing great shadowing detail thought the feathers filaments. I would love too see this image with the greenery in focus. OOF green stuff seems to always manage to look yucky whereas the in focus green can add a nice environmental touch. Good to be "skeered" sometimes.
