A very common bird throughout much of Costa Rica. Colorful though...

Outstanding, Dave, one of the best ones for my from your trip.
Bird and perch look great..
Kind of a boxy crop, maybe a more traditional one would look better?

One of my favourites from South America, always one of the first you see when leaving the airport too haha.
You got a beautiful perch here Moe! I think the exposure looks good and the background is very nice even though I find the dirt and bright grass a bit distracting. I would also darken the pupil as it is still blue from the flash.
Last thing I would suggest is going vertical instead of a boxy crop here but that is a personal preference.
Nice frame. Like the diagonal perch and the moss. The view of the bird is nice espcially the feet.
The perch is great and the bird looks super sharp to me! His head does look a bit grayed/cold, but it's really hard to get perfect exposure on these high contrast subjects. I agree about removing the flash evidence in the eye,
Agree the crop is kinda wonky and would try something vertical.
These are lovely birds.
My first thought when I saw this was that the comp should be a bit looser and presented as a 4 x 6 ratio.
Very nice image with a great look at the feet and the plumage and I like the POV looking down a bit at the bird.

Hey Moe, no nits from me. I really like the image. Beautiful bird, nicely shown. Thank you for sharing.

The view of bird and the perch are sweet perfection. Yes, the BG below the branch could be better, but really my eyes never leave the bird on this one(what a view). TFS
Love the light and the processing on the bird and especilly the great head anlge. Me? I would wish for a more tradiional 3X2 but I still love ths is presented.
with love, artie
