I have shot very few shore birds here in Nd . Starting to take advantage. Processed in Dpp 4, Photoshop. Thanks for comments and critiques.

Nicely viewed from ground level Kevin and the colours of the beach gravel work nicely with the colours of the bird--reminds me I need to give more effort to examining the details of the bird's surroundings and working and waiting to get something like this. I think perhaps the focus is not quite dead on on the eye here but rather on the white fringes at the shoulder. Did you use single point or multi point for the focus elements? I keep single and one of the multi's ( and actually even two sometimes ) on side-by-side back buttons so I can quickly jump from one to 'tother. Another nosy question if I may---do you get your eye behind the camera for low shots like this or do you have one of those right angle viewer attachments?
Thanks Bob for your comments .I was using single point and it looks a little softer than when I processed it.This was the first time I used neat image noise reduction . I was wondering if that would soften the image any? I get behind the camera and it is tough on the neck.As I am lying flat on the ground and holding the camera around eight to twelve inches off the ground depending on vegetation and other factors.
Neat Image would certainly soften the image a bit if you applied it generally to the image. My old neck is an absolute bar to getting behind the camera down low so the right angle viewer is a big help there
The biggest preblem here for me is the excess of negative space above the bird. A crop from the top toe 3X2 seems obvious l... As for NeatImage, it can soften the bird if you use it incorrectly. Learn how to use it properly by applying more NR to the BKGR and less to the bird in the guide here.

You know I love the low angle! The pebbles look good too, and not out of place. My only concern here, is that I wish the far half of the body was swung over more parallel to us, or, alternatively, the head angled more towards us to match the current body angle. BTW, the raised foot adds a lot of interest, compared to both on the ground.
