    Default Indian Rufous Treepie

Whilst getting some intel from the Forest guards, the occasional Treepie would come down hoping for some tasty tit bits, sadly this one was to be disappointed. How I shot this one one stick, no idea as this was not a set-up, but hit worked. A hint more DoF for me, maybe f/8 as I'm not a lover shooting wide open with this lens so close.

Thanks to those who posted or viewed on the last posting.

Subject: Indian Rufous Treepie (Dendrocitta vagabunda)
    Location: India, Ranthambore
    Camera: Canon 1DX MKII
    Lens: 200-400f/4 HH
    Exposure: 1/1000s at f/5.6 ISO2000
Original format: Portrait, slight crop almost FF
Processed via: LRCC Classic & PSCC2019

Note: The subject is fully wild and completely unconstrained. Besides the potential impact of my presence, nothing has been done to intentionally alter or affect the ongoing behavior of the subject and, of course, there has been no use of any form of bait or other form of wildlife attractants (including vocalisations) in the capture of this image.

    Steve:

He seems contemplative, which is not something I often say about a bird. Soft colors, pleasant background, nicely scaled perch.

    Well captured.

Hi Steve, love the image. The soft tones with the highlight on the head and upper chest are wonderful. Made me wonder if you used a Radial Filter in Lightroom? Thank you for sharing.

Neat looking bird. Like the bill. Nice pose and background. The vertical composition works well.

Thanks folks for the kind words.

Joe I will use (if applicable) any element of LR/PS has to offer in order to process the image to the desired end result, but not here. What I think you may be seeing/referring to is an old photographic trick and that is some 'snooted light' to add focus.
