Default Elephant Bull in Nxai Pan

Hi folks ...changing locations like underwear .... oops sorry change that more often than i do post here

This time an image from 2018 trip to Botswana with Anette , image taken at Nxai pan NP in late afternoon light . Sky was as pale as is ....not the nicest color but realistic .
Actually i am not too fuzzed about the crop , but this bull surprised me when shooting him in portrait , facing us . All of a sudden he turned and shook his head .... so i just turned with him and fired !!! No time for recompose or get him fully i the frame .
So i cropped a fair bit .... more than i normally do . Personally i think it is a bit tight on RHS .... but no more space .
Hope you still can find something cool in this frame ... i am very happy about the visible eye

    Canon EOS 1Dx
    EF 200 - 400 IS L at 400 mm
    HH with BB support

    F 5,6 ; Iso 3200 ; 1/1600 sec ; man exp and Auto Iso

Processed with DPP 4 and PSCC 2019 ; as said above cropped to about 60% of FF , for a decent comp from my POV .

Thanks for watching and commenting to my previous posting .

    Cheers Andreas

    Good evening Andreas,

I think it's a pretty cool image, Boetie Love the way the sun lights up the Ele's face and pose is awesome. You could not have cropped better under the circumstances, for me the comp works. Detail is great and so is IQ, well processed.

What I like most here is the expression, kind of excited and happy, like most eles when they are near water. The bits of mud flying add to the image too.

So I like this as presented, no nits from me Put a smile on my face too, thank you so much for sharing!

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

I like the content & partial 'action' here Andreas, but being back lit has thrown up some issues I feel and I get the impression you may have pushed this compared to other shots??? If this is FF then agree, framing is not ideal, but hey, this was on the fly. Agree on the visible eye.

Thanks Gabriela and Steve for your comments ....much appreciated .

Gabriela ... he was not happy .... as another bull appeared on RHS as viewed , the reason for his quick turn around and shaking his head /trunk / ears ....

Steve ... the image is indeed pushed , no mistake from my side , just how i like to present the image .

    Cheers Andreas

Love it, the light is super, I don't see any problem if you wanted to extend the RHS just use content aware fill at crop stage, if it's only a little bit it would not be discernible.

Thanks John for your comment ..much appreciated .

I do see a problem with content aware ....... will create fancy repetitions due to the image content in the LRC , IMHO .

Sweet light you caught this bull in. Like all the muddy water flying all over. You adressed the tightness on the right. Still nice frame overall.
