Theme:landing snow goose

I've been lurking for the last year but this month's theme has prompted me to action, having been lucky enough to get quite a few images lately that prominently display feather detail. This was shot on a friends farm this spring when a large flock of these birds was trading back and forth between two farm fields to which I have access on Westham Is. in the Fraser R. delta. The set up was ideal as I was standing in a harvested grain field with a late evening sun at my back as the birds flew toward me. Canon 1DxII,EF100-400 IS II w/ 1.4xIII, ISO1000, f/9, 1/3200, HH.

Thank you David, both for the welcome and the input. I have a tendency towards pushing my images to the dark side ( for the dramatic impact of it I suspect ) so your advice is much needed. This histogram has lots of room for more exposure so I will play with selectively adding more light to avoid the under-exposure look while still maintaining the impact of contrast between dark areas and light areas.

Welcome back. The image is sharp with a neat pose but there are lots of problems. The exposure is uneven due to the curves of the wings. As noted above it is too tight below. And while I am OK with the o-o-f tree on the right, the white area behind the feet is an image wrecker. Keep at it.

Agree with what has been said here. The bird is nice and sharp and the pose is great.
