    Default Tiger Land !

Hello everyone , thank you for all your comments and suggestions on my previous post , as always much appreciated.

Here is another image depicting Tiger habitat from Bandhavgarh. Early morning light and this young tigress was walking on a rocky terrain. She stood in the clearing briefly and looked at us and at that moment i was so tempted to go for a nice portrait on the rocks or a side profile with the big tele but I wanted to capture the habitat and hence opted for the 24-105mm. There was some cluttering in the lhs of the frame but i managed to clone that out. Luckily next day we got another tigress on a different rock and that time I went for portraits ( will post those images later).

DPP 4, PSCC 2019, WB, Curves, vibrance, selective colour, colour balance, sharpening, cropped from top, cloning as mentioned in the intro.

Canon 1DX MK II, Canon 24-105mm f4 IS II, HH.

    ss 1/1000, f/7.1, iso 2000.

Looking forward for all your comments and suggestions, be it of any nature.

    Haseeb.

    Hello Haseeb,

Another beautiful tigerscape, was so looking forward to this Scenery is stunning and I like the subject small in the frame - nice work in the field!

Would crop from the RHS a bit, the tigress is already off centre but I would like to place her more to the right of the image, for better balance.

IMO the image is a bit flat, it lacks "depth", I also wish colours were more vibrant. A simple curve adjustment will add depth and tone here. I really like this a lot, but there's more you could do to bring out the beauty of this landscape.

    A pleasure to view, Haseeb

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

@ Gabriela : thank you so much for your comments and suggestions. It would be great if you can RP your version using the OP. I can also provide the raw but then I did removed a lot of cluttering on the lhs of the frame as mentioned above and it would unnecessarily act as a hinderance for your RP. Would be glad if you can post your version using the above image.

i also did slight curve adjustments and increased the vibrance and it really provides that necessary punch which the OP is lacking. Thanks for the guidance. Will post my version asap.

Hi Haseeb, I like the RP, but think the subject would be more 'muted' not so colourful? Again, I think f/5.6 as you will not get the Tiger pin sharp and so are throwing away DoF and so the ISO would drop.

Thank you Steve . I still think the colours in my OP especially of tiger have come out more accurately as per the scene I recall . The overall scene lacks some depth , just a slight midtone boost might suffice .

If this was early morning then perhaps yes, but not being there hard to say, happy to take your stance.

I like the composition, the tones and colours - well it gets confusing to me, I wasn't there but they all look pleasing to me.

Hi Haseeb, I think that RP 3 is too yellow, look at the rocks, they are more slate IMHO. Therefore how about this:

Combine OP & RP2, but mask to reveal the lower fifth (grass & Tiger). Add a Curves adjustment to bring some tonal range into the trees and hill side, mask to conceal the lower fifth, drop Opacity, change Blend mode Soft light. Colour balance adjustment, Midtone Cyan +/Yellow +, Shadows +Cyan, +Yellow, amounts personal taste.

Remember we will all see things differently and monitors/ambient light etc, so it's far deeper than a thread perhaps needs to go, but I know you would like to get a better grasp on this one, hope it helps.

Hi Haseeb a bit late to the party ... and getting confused by some many versions .
So i keep it simple .I do like this a lot in terms of setting and the subject placement is well chosen . I do not know ... if i would have opted for that short lens , but great that you did .
Love the overall colors and think Steve has created a very pleasing one with his last RP ..... but you were there and your view is what counts !!!!
Was it really necessary to clone out things ?

Keep your scape images coming !!!

    Thank you Steve and Andreas.

@ Steve: Your RP is more in line with the actual scene and I too was trying to achieve something similar with my RP2, now I can see the right direction.

@ Andreas : As I said above it is almost there with the actual scene. Will post some more scapes for sure.

I like the soft colors of the original post. And I love, love, love the image. I would not mind a bit more room at the bottom and if it were mine, I would get rid of the dark blob just benind the right fornt leg. My eye goes right there every time I look at this beautiful image.
