Default One for the bucket list...

I had just been to the west coast (Bunche Beach Preserve) to get some shorebirds and hope for big red. My son invited us over this weekend since he wrangled three days off in a row. Last time my wife and I went, I was down the beach lying in wait for willets, little sanderlings and a couple of plovers. Little did I know, just 100+ yards down the beach a reddish egret white morph landed in the surf right in front of my wife. Now, she knows this is the one bird I always wanted to image but had never had the chance. She took some cell phone images just to prove this sighting. So, back we returned for a glorious two sunsets and two sunrises to tick one off my bucket list. I was not disappointed and just love these birds...

As always, thanks for your help on previous images, I gladly welcome some more.

Soft color of the overall image is very pleasing. Pose is nice.

Hi David, beautiful bird, nicely shown. The soft light is really nice. I might have cropped differently, a 2x3 with more negative space in front of the bird, in Lightroom I work up different versions using Create A Virtual Copy. Thank you for sharing.

Nice pastel colors and nice exposure on the whites.
I would clip off the tail feathers before they exit the screen on the right.

Great soft colors in this one. Head angle is right on. Agree a 2x3 cop may work better here. The bird is nice and sharp.

Thanks Joe for your cropping suggestions. I have not yet even tried LR and may have to try soon. This is from the first evening and I was chasing this beauty up and down the beach. I finally decided to sit down and wait and he almost walked right up to me. So, as he got closer I went vertical to get the full length, sacrificing room to walk into. This is vertical with a little off the top and bottom for composition. All comments always welcome and appreciated...

Beautifully sharp and exposed. Love the swirl around the front leg and the boxy crop works well here (but for the clipped plume on the right ...)
