Hi folks ...back to Etosha .
Time for lunch break .... spend lunch time in the camp , and took the chance in Namoutoni camp to photograph these Squirrels during the break in harsh mid day light ...
They do use their tails to create an sun umbrella .....to find some shelter while digging for food or begging for food .
Hope you like this female ...

Thanks for looking and commenting to my previous posting .... Cheers Andreas
Lovely image Andreas, I like the POV here and pose from this little scoundrel.
Colours spot-on under the conditions you mentioned in your intro, indeed light is very harsh around lunch time. BG is awesome and I like your techs, good thinking in the field.
They really look like this, those ground squirrels - kind of gritty and greyish and with a tad of brown...They are as rough and as tough as the environment they live in
Nice framing too. I like that bit of light in the subject's eye. Hope you did not feed her...Or did the begging melt your soft heart?
I shared a squirrel image recently but I think you were away at the time, kindly have a look: http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...We-Go-That-Way!
Many thanks for sharing, I enjoyed this. As well as the your other recent contributions in the Forum, we're having fun again
Thanks Gabriela and Greg for your kind comments .... much appreciated .
Gabriela ... well described how they are in real life !!! Not fed this lady by myself .... just found some leftovers from my breakfast that fell down in parts . She once bit me in my toe .... ... asking for attention .
Andreas, those Cape Ground Squirrels may carry rabies. As well as the slender and yellow mongooses, and meerkats too. Just so you know...in the future, keep your toes safe from those little guys
Hi Andreas -- Cracking details. The low POV has given you that amazing bkg as well and with excellent field craft and PP work you have yet again produced a remarkable frame. The light looks strong but you have done a superb job at it inspite of that . Loved it.
A cracking image Andreas, but a bit more below would have been better. I like the alert pose, but the Blacks & Shadows are masking the detail which is unusual for you. Admittedly the harsh light creates this, but I would back off a bit more IMHO.
