Male southern cassowary captured in Myall Creek, Cape Tribulation. Whites are blown on the skin behind the eye, and there is a weird convergence with the foliage and the curve of the chest, but it is what it is... Not much light in the rainforest. When you are lucky enough to see these guys, the moment passes very quickly.
400mm, 1/125, f3.5, ISO4000.
Thanks to being woken by the cat (Kiah) to get onto the early ferry.

Fine look at this great looking bird...I might isolate the bird and tone down the BG.

What a neat looking bird. Love that blue. Kinda reminds me of the turkeys we have here. As you said it is what it is.

I am so jealous of your sighting of this bird. We tried and tried to see a cassowary in the wild and failed. I had to go to the zoo to see one in real life!

I do have a significant advantage of proximity Gail... I was able to choose a day with the right weather (I think it is best to search in light rain), but you still need luck. The one I have seen in a zoo did not seem nearly as vibrant in colors as the ones I see in the wild.
