This image was captured in the Kalahari in February last year. My companion and I were driving towards the nearby waterhole one early morning when we heard a brief roar in the distance. We decided to carry on slowly and look around, and barely one km further we were rewarded with the loveliest sighting: two beautiful male lions. We had the privilege to observe and photograph them for some time but unfortunately there was not much interaction between them, they were just following each other at some distance while looking for a spot of shade.
I processed this particular image because I liked the pose, a little hesitant as the subject was about to cross the road and trying to locate his mate who had already found shelter under a large bush and disappeared among the tall grasses

Hi Gabriela ... well a lovely Kalahari Lion male ... left the punk stage behind .
Love the light and colors of the scene , framing , tonal range and detail is looking good ... well done Gabriela in post .
Would not change a thing ....you picked the right time when the face got hit by light ....nice fieldcraft .
Just the pose does look a bit ...unfortunate i think ....a bit like German shepherd with the back part very low .
Thank you Boetie! Thought you'd like to see a big boy, for a change. Although we do like the punks, don't we - they are more entertaining LOL.
I actually liked the pose. And was so happy when he stopped and looked around a bit because I was struggling to get him in the clear, he was walking through those grasses down below. It was a nice feeling when he got close to the window...just like that time at Kij Kij when Charlie Ash roared in my face
Enjoy the evening Andreas, I am off to the feathers soon...
Hi Gabriela -- I loved the light and colours in it. Beautiful settings to get a Lion in it. Nice separation from the BG as well . It is just the pose that is a bit awkward for my taste , otherwise the image has a lot of nice elements in it.
I get it, you guys don't like the pose that much. I have many more frames from this sighting, so no worries Not sure what to post next I have no bears and no seals and no tigers...
Jon, our boy isn't sad, just wondering how quick he can get to that spot-o-shade! His tummy is full and he had been walking the whole night...
Hello Boetie, and thank you for message! I haven't received it, not yet. Been looking forward to it. I am receiving notifications from BPN though. Internet is very slow and I have had issues with the server for some time now. Will send you a test email, try reply to it and check if the email address is correct.
What a sighting. Nice light and nice to see the lion out in the open. Composition looks spot on. Sounds like quite the experience you had with these lions.
Hi Gabriela. A nice sighting with great golden light and details. Agree on pose, but well I look forward to more from this since you have a few more. TFS. Nice one.
