    Default Roseate Spoonbill in Mangroves

A very pale individual; maybe a 2nd year bird? I normally wouldn't put the bird in the center of the frame but I didn't want to crop the Red Mangrove leaf cluster catching nice light on the left. Taken in late afternoon fading light, from a skiff among the Ten Thousand Islands of Florida's Gulf Coast.

D500, Sigma 150-600C @ 400 mm; ISO 1000, 1/3200s @ f/7.1 manual. Prepared for him to fly, but he stayed put.

I agree with you on the crop Bill. I rather like the softer color on the bird. Different, love the light too subtle.TFS

This is very nice Bill and I agree with your choice of comp. Do you have a sliver more on the bottom. That toe is getting close but certainly fine as presented.
I might bump up the exposure by 1/2.
Just the right amount of environment without being obtrusive.
The image has a lovely "soft" feel to it,

This is nice... I like the birds eyes in the center of the frame, so the comp is fine with me.
Bird pops very nice and a lot to look at here.

Not normally a fan of centered birds but I fully understand your thinking here and I agree, it wold have been a shame to have cut off the vegetation. I like some environment in the shot so the BG works well for me and the head turn is nice

Young is sweet here! I like the suggestion of increased exposure, adding room for the foot, and also enjoying your placement of the rosie in habitat and not chopping those mangrove leaves! Well done.

All has been said. Just awesome canvas. Even the pale plumage works to give a softer feel. Congrats. TFS

Looking good. The composition looks great to me. Just a little more below would be nice. Nice light and pose.

Nicely captured, Bill. I like the framing as well, and the pastel feather colors. Well done.

Thank you all. I'll look at increasing the exposure a tad.

With the blue lores, this bird is surely less than a year old. Wish for more room in front though I get your compositional decision. In cases like this you can lock focus and pan right for source material for a stitched pano ...
