    Default Female King Parrot

Was up early the other day to take a drive to Mt Glorious, north of Brisbane...a really nice rainforest location, in search of Noisy Pittas (among others) ...but no luck (quite an elusive bird). On the way back I stopped off for a coffee and burger at a cafe. There were Sulphur crested Cockatoos and King parrots in the trees. Here's a closeup of the female King Parrot...lots more to edit!

Nice tight portrait with a great clean BG.
Good details in the face but at F 5.6 you did not have much depth of field so the nape of neck and throat are a bit OOF.
When I do tight portraits I always try to be at F8 and if possible F9. But I do appreciate that sometimes this is not possible.
You need to stop at that cafe more often!!

Thanks Ian..I could darken the reflections, but that's as it was at the time...I'm fine with them.
Gail: Thank you. Suggestions noted for next time...cheers

Good advice by Gail. Glorious bird. Some Eye Doctor work and a but of bill clean-up would improve it if you go for that stuff :)

Hello Paul, I have my parrot on my shoulder as i view and well, she is smitten! I do see a long distance relationship having its troubles, but hey , its for them to work out... Ok, I love it. Yes, wish for more DOF, very nice detail, love the eye, and the soft BG. Cheers

Fantastic detail on this gal, Paul. We're just pulled right into that eye. Yeah, you could clean-up the eye, but shot was taken in shade. I think having too-clean an eye here will look artificial. You're not going to get/have/create a single catchlight without it looking manipulated.

Solid portrait here. Like the pose and that background. I think i see the cafe in the reflection in the eye.

Thanks all for the kind feedback...much appreciated as always.
Arthur: not sure I'm ok with "cleaning up" the eye/bill...I tend to agree with Dorian here.
Ann...maybe they could become "beak" pals......or maybe Facebook friends...lol
John...you see the cafe? but can you see my burger and coffee?
