    Default Short-billed Dowitcher

Headed to Dauphin Island, Alabama over the weekend to speak to Alabama Ornithologists' Union. I managed to sneak off to do some of my own shooting in between
my lecture/guiding responsibilities, so I'll have a few frames for you in the next few days.

Light here was a bit steeper/harsher than I'd like, but I think the details salvaged the frame!

Guy is about half finished molting from winter/gray into summer/red plumage.

Canon 600mm f/4 IS II + 1.4x III on EOS 1DX Mark II
    1/3200 at f/8, ISO 1000, handheld

Dorian, This is a beauty - nice low angle, comp, pose, light and detail.

Lovely pose, FG/BG, POV, color and detail. In other words, all good.

Looks just fine to me. Were you knelling in the late or is this bird in a tidal pool? Let us know if you get any passerines and good luck on that.

As you might suspect, I don't even bother with migrant passerines since they spend all their time in trees. Ugly frames only. No drips to bring them low like in Texas......

I gave up on warblers many years ago when I went to TX for ten days -- Padre, did quite well, and then lost a ton of great images due to human error, the human being me ... I used to be able to do that (but have never hand held the six).

    with love and thanks, artie

Spot on shorebird frame here. Like the raised foot and the low angle. Light looks pretty good to me. Where do you put your keys and phone and what not when laying in the water like that? Dry bag?
