Out at my newly discovered location and photographing other birds when I saw this Glossy Ibis landing...so I took a "grab shot", not expecting to see the beautiful colours on the wings. Nature sure is amazing. This is a fair crop. I removed many specular highlights in PS using a technique with the spot healing brush set to darken mode.

Hi Paul,
So nice to have met you and thanks for taking me to Oxley Creek. Glad to hear there are lots of kookaburras there now.
So much nicer to comment on BPN'ers images once you have met them.
When the sun hits these birds at the right angle the kaleidoscope sheen is revealed and is so beautiful. You have done well to capture it so nicely.
I would rotate your image CCW so that the lines at the top of the frame are level.
I would selectively increase the exposure on the head and then reduce the brightness of the BG. I would adjust the levels or curves a bit to increase the blacks a little bit.
Gail
PS I never did see your homemade skimmer pod. As I left the park I realized that I forgot to look at it. Sorry about that.
Hi Gail,
Thanks so much for the feedback...yes I'm quite happy with the photo considering it was a quick grab shot. I've re-edited it following your suggestions...what do you think?
Cheers,
Paul
