Down the barrel woody drake from a few days ago. Tried several different crops of the reflection.

D500. 500mm f/4. f/6.3, ISO 450. 1/800s.

Modest crop from sides . slight Gaussian blur as reflection neared frame edge.

Could of used a sliver more dof for the tip of the bill.

Advice and comments appreciated, esp. about the crop.

Wow... The whole bird looks great to me but those whites on the neck and that eye are sublime. Love the painterly FG and the killer BG (only nit, want more above, just a little). Congrats and TFS.

Great POV and love the direct gaze. Exposure looks really good. Excellent HA.
I can understand why you had difficulty choosing a crop. I think I would prefer seeing the entire head reflection included if you have it but this is all down to personal preference.

Gail, I don't have any more below unfortunately. I agree, that would probably be the best possible crop.
David - yes, I can see a bit more above. I spent so much time thinking about the bottom, I ignored the top!

Beautiful Image. I would crop it till the white reflection as the head is not clear. Or I would make this pano by taking most of the reflection out.

Colors on the bird look really nice.

Like the head on approach of this one. The bird is nice and sharp. Like the water drops on the head.
