Excellent interaction captured Will, I think your shoulder is maybe bionic! Colors look "muted" so maybe increase blacks, tonal contrast, ... Wish you had more SS... Keep em coming. Love the fanned tail
Excellent action indeed. Some technical issues because of dof, but still an effective frame. The distribution of sharpness is interesting, as it doesn't seem to be in a single plane as expected.
Sounds like it might be a site you can work further. Worth the effort.
Thanks for the comments...Yes your right Dan, I was aware of the flaws, but it was the best I could get considering the circumstances...Thanks for looking
Hi Will, I like the interaction, but the image appears to have been 'lifted' especially noticeable in the wings of the lower bird and so there is no real depth in the plumage and has a course appearance. I would have also gone for a much higher SS, you had enough ISO at your disposal Will and a 1DX.
Thanks for that Steve...the light was changing fast, windy with small clouds blowing about, changing my SS constantly, but your right I should have used a higher ISO, which would have gave me more scope with the SS without over/under exposing. I will post another Red Kite image later, and take into account your comments on the processing.
Will, I reckon you are under exposing, but where perhaps you should have been more on the +EV, what was the EV? If you stick the camera in M mode, Auto ISO, job done.
I like the original post and think that you did quite well evening out the exposure. Auto ISO does not help unless you have the correct EC set; it is not a panacea as many folks think that it is. I'd go for a square crop as their is too much room below for my taste. The only thing that I do not like is the curved near-wing of the lower bird -- fully raised would have been great.
with love, artie
